As part of our environmental stewardship, we are committed to finding new energy solutions to meet growing power needs while reducing emissions. Pending necessary government and regulatory approvals, NRG will design and implement a Plasma Gasification Technology project at our Somerset Generating Station. This next-generation technology converts solid feedstocks such as coal, biomass (e.g. wood) and other materials into synthesis gas (or “syngas” for short). Once purified, the synthesis gas is used to generate power while reducing the plant's overall emissions significantly. |
